2023. 12.01. - 2024. 03. 02.

For the final exhibition in 2023, Space Fountain presents JUNGLE CITY, an exhibition by Jeongsu, Yoon Seongwang(Gwaxng), and Park Seungjae(Jae) that presents different perspectives on urban life. The ecosystem of the jungle, where carnivores rush to hunt and herbivores coexist on the plains, resembles our own search for sanctuary amidst the fierceness of the competition. "JUNGLE CITY" introduces the works of three artists who define the 'city' as a 'jungle' and capture our lives in the city in detail, both as a world of the weak and the strong who survive through endless competition and as a haven for modern people. Jeongsu, Gwaxng, and Jae visualize human desires and dreams, good and evil, and happiness and misery expressed in the city in a unique formative language. The artists convey modern urbanites' fierce and sincere lives through their narratives. Through their different visual languages, the works reveal the diverse humanity of urban life. This exhibition will examine the lives and futures of cities, society, and humanity through various works that explore the behind-the-scenes of modern cities and create new fantasy spaces.

JEONGSU

정수

Jeongsu(b.1980~): The artist who creates narratives through allegorical patterns, Jeongsu uses repetitive natural shapes and bold color blocks to compose her paintings. Her works, which contain various metaphors based on color variations of the same pattern, offer viewers the opportunity to create endless stories. By adding rhythm to the visual order derived from regularity and composing refined color planes together, the artist creates peaceful and dynamic scenes. The patterns of her daily life and dreams continue to develop new narratives.

GWAXNG

윤성광

Gwaxng_Yoon Seongwang(b.1999~): Artist Gwaxng creates intensive monster characters with bushy fur, bulging eyes, and sharp teeth to express his honest feelings about life and art. The characters become the artist's persona and roam on the canvas, expressing the artist's message to society without hesitation. The dynamic energy emanating from the work, the vividly intersecting color planes, and the clothes and accessories worn by the characters form a unique canvas that conveys various messages about contemporary society.

WORKS

JAE

박승제

JAE_Park Seungjae(b.2000~): Based between Seoul and New York, artist JAE combines the finding of everyday enlightenment with the artist's imagination to create fantastical scenes inhabited by mythical creatures. As a medium for exploring the meaning and value of life, the artist utilizes various figures and motifs in his works, metaphorically projecting the everyday materials he explores. The delicate delineation and thick brushstrokes in proportion to the depth of his ground thoughts create a dreamlike scene, creating an open interpretive space where the artist's story and the viewer's experience are connected.
